PAUL JEWELL slammed his sorry side after another dire defeat and slated it as the worst display he has ever seen from a Premiership team.
The Derby boss made a return to his former club at the JJB Stadium but it was a day to forget.
Goals from Paul Scharner and Antonio Valencia were enough to see off the Premiership's bottom club, who look certs for relegation.
And Jewell pulled no punches as he ripped into his struggling squad.
He said: "It was dire. We were second best in all departments as there was no desire.
"It's not good enough and we're a million miles away from being a proper Premier League team."
The Pride Park side were always up against it and Wigan's pressure finally paid off on the hour.
Scharner pounced to turn in at the far post after Emile Heskey's close range effort was parried by Derby keeper Roy Carroll.
And Valencia wrapped up the points six minutes from time, crashing home from inside the box.
