SUNDERLAND boss Roy Keane is refusing to get carried away despite seeing his side take a huge step towards Premier League survival.
The Black Cats eased their fears with a hard-fought win thanks to goals from Dickson Etuhu and Daryl Murphy.
Keane said: "We have got to try and keep getting positive results and the table will take care of itself. There's no point looking at the table and losing.
"We have still got to put in positive performances."
Etuhu headed the home side ahead in 42 minutes and Murphy won it with a stunning 25-yard screamer that went in off the bar 15 minutes from the end.
Wigan manager Bruce said: "Sometimes the game is cruel.
We did enough to win.
"But we missed chance after chance. We didn't score so in the end we have come away empty-handed.
"From what I seen today, if we keep playing like that, we will be all right."
