Wigan 1-0 West Ham

WIGAN gaffer Steve Bruce set his sights on collecting the 15 points he reckons will be enough to save the club from relegation.

Bruce is confident his troops can battle their way to safety after Kevin Kilbane's looping header in first-half injury time was enough to sink West Ham.

Bruce said: "That's 15 points from 11 games since I arrived. We have 13 matches left and if we can get another 15 points we'll be safe.

"The players have shown me they have something about them and again have given everything they've got."

Bruce labelled his own pitch a disgrace and raging Hammers boss Alan Curbishley agreed.

Curbishley said: "Premier League teams are not used to playing on this type of surface.

"Anybody coming here must get used to it because it is a big factor and you find yourself punting the ball long."
