DERBY gaffer Paul Jewell is adamant he was right to leave Wigan last season despite the Rams moving nearer relegation.
An Antoine Sibierski strike 43 seconds after his 81st-minute substitution condemned Derby - who had Claude Davis sent off - to another defeat at Pride Park.
Yet Jewell, who quit after saving Wigan from the drop on the final day of last season, said: "I've no regrets about leaving.
"In my time at Wigan we lost 5-1 at Wrexham in the LDV Vans Trophy and were bottom of the old League One.
"While it looks like we're going to go down there's a lot to be excited about in the future.
"I've taken knocks in the past yet ended up being successful. I hope I can be successful here."
