SORRY Sunderland were torn apart as dreams of Cup glory were halted at the first hurdle.

The Black Cats have struggled to hit form in the league and looked just as poor yesterday.

Paul Scharner was left unmarked to give the visitors a half-time lead when he headed in Josip Skoko's free-kick.

And they were down and out when Jonny Evans's poor back pass let in Julius Agahowa.

Paul McShane tried to clear but put the ball in his own net.

Dave Cotterill then wrapped it up late on with a great strike.
