Everton 0-1 Oldham

OLDHAM boss John Sheridan urged his giant-killers to savour the moment after Gary McDonald sent the Premiership high-fliers crashing out.

The ex-Kilmarnock star's stunning 25-yard strike seconds before the break capped a superb display.

Sheridan said: "This is my best result as a manager. I told the players to enjoy the occasion because things like this might not happen to them again. "I was so pleased and proud."

The League One side held Everton at bay with relative ease after the break although sub Yakubu hit a post with seconds left.

Toffees gaffer Davie Moyes defended his team selection and said: "We have a good squad and felt it wasn't a vastly weakened team we put out. We should have been good enough to win."
