BOLTON manager Gary Megson insisted he had no regrets after his under-strength side crashed out.
Megson rested striker Nicolas Anelka - linked with a move to Chelsea - and saw David Carney strike for United just before the interval to sink the Trotters.
The boss made seven changes in all from the team that had beaten Derby in midweek but he denied Anelka was absent because he was on his way out of the club and would have been cup-tied.
Megson said: "There has been no approach from anyone for Nic. We made changes as the players have had a lot of games in a short time.
"I do not regret making those changes. The disappointment is some of our highly-paid Premier League squad members didn't rise to the challenge they were given."
