Airdrie switch is top of the pops

Cowdenbeath V Airdrie Utd Today, Kick-Off 3.00pm

REBORN Paul Di Giacomo says the best thing about getting a regular game again is seeing the smile back on his dad's face.

The former Kilmarnock man has found anew lease of life since dropping a division to team up with Airdrie United.

And it's given his old man Paul Snr a boost after years travelling to his son's games but rarely seeing him start.

The Airdrie ace said: "I'm just delighted to be back playing again regularly which I wasn't guaranteed at Kilmarnock.

"I wouldn't say a bad word against Jim Jefferies because I got on great with him but I wasn't likely to feature every week.

"I was assured there would be more opportunities at Airdrie and that's been proven early on - so I have no regrets.

"Even my dad says it's good to be going to games now expecting me to play rather than turning up and just hoping I'll get on for 20 minutes here or there.

"He's followed me throughout my career and doesn't miss many games so it's good for him to be able to get out there and watch me being involved more often."

Di Giacomo hopes to continue his form with a win in the ALBA Challenge Cup quarter-final against Cowdenbeath today.

Airdrie have already shocked Hearts at Tynecastle in the Co-op Insurance Cup and Di Giacomo (right) wants that to continue.

He hasn't won silver since his boys' club days and said: "I was beaten CIS Cup finalist with Killie and haven't lifted a trophy in my professional career.

"The gaffer is treating this competition seriously and we'll give it our all."
