BIG FISH Alan Trouten sunk minnows Annan as he bagged a brilliant double on his Clyde debut.
The former Queen's Park star pounced twice in the second half to condemn the SFL new boys to defeat on their big-league bow.
And the 22-year-old plans to light up the First Division with more goals for John Brown's side.
He said: "I scored 14 goals last season and just tried to do the same in front of goal as I did with Queen's.
"It has been absolutely brilliant to move up to the First Division. The boys have made me feel welcome."
Annan boss Harry Cairney was sad to see his side's historic baptism end in defeat but was still full of praise for his battling players.
He said: "We're disappointed to lose but we had some decent performances.
"We knew we were up against it but asked our guys to keep the ball as well as they could - and they did that."
Annan kept Clyde quiet early on and the first chance came after 30 minutes when Trouten fired into the side-netting.
Bully Wee hitman Pat Clarke came even closer moments later when he blazed over in acres of space.
The deadlock was finally broken in 61 minutes when Alan Inglis brought down Trouten who then slotted his penalty past Craig Summersgill.
The Third Division side almost levelled moments later when Stephen Archibald latched on to a low ball across the six-yard box but David Hutton came out well to block.
But Clyde grabbed the second in 74 minutes when Trouten lifted the ball over Summersgill from Billy Gibson's clever pass.
Manager John Brown was pleased with Trouten and said: "He's an intelligent player. Alan got the penalty and finished it then made a great run for his second.
"He will score a few in the First Division this season."
