CUP final boss Gordon Chisholm admitted his Hampden heroes had one eye on the big season finale as they flopped on the last day of the league campaign.

But he is hoping the heavy defeat will act as a wakeup call before next month's showdown with Rangers.

After watching the Pars score four second-half goals to chalk up a convincing win, Chis said: "The goals we conceded were disappointing and not like us. But maybe the players had one eye on the final.

"However, maybe it is something we needed - an eye-opener or a wake-up call - as soon as you stop doing the right things in football it comes back to bite you."

Mark Burchill is leaving the Pars but struck twice as the Fifers signed off for the season in style.

Scott Thomson opened the scoring on 48 minutes when he latched on to a Scott Morrison pass and lofted a first time effort over keeper Stephen Grindlay. Pars made it 2-0 in 56 minutes when Calum Woods cut the ball back for Iain Williamson to net. Six minutes later Burchill headed Stephen Glass's cross home from close range.

And he slid home the fourth with five minutes to go.

Dunfermline boss Jimmy McIntyre savoured the last-day show but revealed he's hunting three hitmen in the summer. Mac said: "We're losing Burchill and Stevie Crawford. With Tam McManus already gone we are three strikers short."
