FRANK HADDEN last night hailed the Murrayfield fans as Scotland's 16th man.
The coach, under pressure after three defeats, dedicated the shock win to a success-starved support.
Hadden said: "We have had a lot of critics but also a lot of support after poor results.
"This result was for the fans because they were magnificent and played a massive part.
"I knew we were capable of pulling off a result like this. The players knew it and the fans did.
"It was a fantastic achievement and we fully deserved it."
Hadden laughed off claims the English display was tame and lacklustre. He rapped: "We didn't let them play, simple as that.
"We didn't let them get close at any stage. We realised the weather would be far from perfect and our game plan worked perfectly."
Captain courageous Mike Blair, named man of the match, said: "It wasn't fair on England because we had 16 men out there.
"The noise and atmosphere was something else and there is no doubt they were a big factor."
