THE future of Scotland boss Frank Hadden was looking increasingly gloomy last night in the wake of yet another slaughter.
Under his direction, Scotland have grabbed only one win in their last seven championship matches - and there are no signs the trend will change.
The fact Hadden's hapless side have only managed one try in their last five outings just illustrates their lack of penetration and firepower.
Again yesterday they had to rely on the boot of Chris Paterson to limit the damage.
Adowncast Hadden said: "It was another tough day at the office. We did not play well enough - we did not threaten individually or collectively. The fact we did not score a try is obviously a concern.
"I expect individuals to play with flair - but too many times they turned over the ball. The wrong people were in the wrong places."
Wales supremo Warren Gatland delivered a cruel indictment on the Scots by admitting he used the last 15 minutes as a training run.
The tough-talking Kiwi declared: "Only one team were trying to play rugby out there. The other team were relying on soft penalties to keep them in the game.
"I changed our backline in the last 15 minutes to give guys some experience."
