Edinburgh 17 Leicester 12
BORN-AGAIN Edinburgh turned on the style to leave Leicester's Euro hopes in tatters with a red-hot display at chilly Murrayfield.
And Edinburgh boss Andy Robinson was delighted at his young charges finally coming of age.
He said: "It was one of the best performances since I arrived and the fact it was against one of the strongest teams in Europe made it all the more special.
"Everything went right in the second half. We put pressure on them in the setpiece and could have scored two or three more tries such were the chances we created.
The crowd also made a difference.
The players know if they make a mistake they will keep on backing them."
Two penalties from Andy Goode gave Tigers an early 6-0 lead but despite having Ben Gissing sin-binned Edinburgh hit back with a fine solo try from Phil Godman which he converted.
But Leicester restored their lead when Goode bagged a penalty on half-time.
Edinburgh came out with all guns blazing after the restart and were unlucky not to score when a rolling maul was held up on the Tigers try-line.
They were soon rewarded with a penalty when England hooker George Chuter was sin-binned for killing the ball.
Godman duly made his kick.
Goode restored Leicester's lead but Edinburgh roared back when good interplay between Nick de Luca and Simon Webster saw Ross Ford cross over.
Godman converted.
They survived a late scare when Leicester's Aaron Mauger was sent clear only for the All-Blacks star to drop the ball on Edinburgh's try-line.
