Egos Should Land In The Bin

BETTING on the outcome of a race when you know the result ahead of everyone else is at best immoral, at worst illegal.

Which is why it stuck in my craw when it was revealed super bore Barry Dennis had written in his weekly newspapaper column that he cashed in on a such a scenario to con punters.

Bismarck Bazza crowed that while he was working for Channel 4 the result of a stewards' inquiry came in just as the broadcaster was going in to a commercial break, giving the blabbermouth bookie enough time to rake in the thick end of two grand on the exchanges before outcome was revealed on air.

To compound his self-confessed chicanery, last week Dennis challenged police to 'come and nick me if they think I have done something wrong.' Given HM's constabulary's track record in meddling with racing I doubt that will come to pass but surely CH4 should now put this bloated self publicist in to the same dustbin that is being readied for his big mucker John McCririck.

Mind you you, it will have to be one helluva bin to accomodate their super-size egos!

SMALL owners are the lifeblood of the horseracing game and it was great to see such an outfit land a great wee touch with the Sean Curran-trained Zizou at Worcester on Wednesday, after being shrewdly backed down from a morning price of 16s to 9-2.

Connections were coy about the coup, claiming they did not know where the cash had come from ... as you do!
