GREAT to see go-ahead Musselburgh get the green light for their new £3million stables complex that will provide a state-of-the-art facility housing 105 horses.
And terrific that the local community, including golfers, will be able to use the cafe and changing room/shower facilities.
A big-up to Musselburgh boss Bill Farnsworth (right) and his hard-working staff for turning the East Lothian track in to one of Britain's best small racecourses. That has been reflected in an increase in the number of southern raiders so long may it continue.
BACK to the old whip debate and the BHA's plea to jockeys to use "common sense" at this week's Royal Ascot meeting.
It's like asking motorists to respect the speed limits without applying the proper sanctions thatwill force them to obey the law.
With 10 per cent of prize money as their take you can bet your bottom dollar jocks will throw the kitchen sink at their mounts. It's not common sense that's needed. It's the thought of stiffer bans and fines for whip abuse that will make riders toe the line.
