Scots star David Coulthard blasts F1 stewards

DAVID COULTHARD last night demanded Formula One bosses improve their stewarding system.

Drivers are angry at a series of controversial decisions by stewards this season.

And super Scot Coulthard has added his voice to calls for change.

The FIA used to have a permanent steward at every race. But there's now a three-man panel alternating for each grand prix - and the drivers believe that has led to the lack of consistency in decisions.

Coulthard, 37 - who retires after the Brazilian Grand Prix in a fortnight - singled out an incident in Singapore when Jarno Trulli was penalised for driving the wrong way to the pit lane after a spin.

He said: "It's always going to be difficult if someone doesn't appreciate what it is like to drive a grand prix car.

"If you are changing the stewards every weekend it's going to create difficulties."
