Win Will Never Be Forgotten

LAST year's champion Willie Dickie hailed his Where Eagles Dare victory the greatest golfing moment of his life.

The Bellshill man had vowed to dedicate more time to the game when he retired from his lifelong trade as a joiner - and couldn't have started his first year as a man of leisure better.

Delighted Willie, who plays off 15, sealed his narrow victory with a dramatic birdie on the last green to pip runner-up Ged O'Hara by a single stableford point.

His impressive haul of 34 points earned our Grand Champion a brand new set of custom-fit irons courtesy of our friends at American Golf.

And 66-year-old Willie assured this year's finalists they are in for a weekend they'll never forget.

He said: "That was the highlight of my golfing career - I'll never top it.

"It was a magic weekend and something I'll cherish for life. I even have the picture of me with the trophy framed and up on my wall at home!

"I think I speak for all club golfers when I say this is a wonderful competition everyone would love to qualify for - and those who made it this year are in for a treat."
