Ross Fisher out for big finish in Ryder Cup hunt

ROSS FISHER is gunning for the last Ryder Cup qualifying spot so he can join the elite English golfers who grew up idolising Nick Faldo.

Fisher needs a high finish this weekend if he's to pip countryman Oliver Wilson to the 10th and final automatic qualifying place in Faldo's team for Valhalla.

With Justin Rose and Lee Westwood already in the side, Fisher's presence could add to a strong English contingent who grew up learning from Faldo.

Ross said: "Nick's done a lot for English golf. His record says it all.

"He was so good in his prime so there's a lot to live up to for our guys. Luckily there's been a few that have taken on the burden."
