Warren Aiming To Make His Marc Again

MARC WARREN kicked off last year's Johnnie Walker Championship at Gleneagles having a bitter bust-up with coach Bob Torrance.

And he ended it holding the trophy after reaching the lowest score of his career.

Now he's hoping a return to the range which sparked that rollercoaster ride can inspire him to land the title again.

The 27-year-old Scot pegs it up in Perthshire on Thursday still struggling to find the form that saw him earn an emotional ovation for his home win in a play-off against Simon Wakefield.

But he told MailSport: "This event means a lot - and not just because I'mthe holder.

"It was the first professional tournament I was invited to play in.

"I gave up the chance to play in the US Amateur to take part after the Walker Cup, so it has always been good for me and winning it last year was fantastic.

"The most bizarre thing about the week was the fact it was the beginning of the end of my relationship with Bob.

"We fell out and I ended up on the range myself, hitting ball after ball.

"The next day I went out and shot eight under - the lowest round of my career.

"I struggled over the first few holes but I dug deep to get it back."

Warren will be a spectator for the announcement of Nick Faldo's Ryder Cup team next Sunday.

He admitted: "It'll be frustrating because I know I'mgood enough to make the team."
