John Was Wright To Keep Going

Where Eagles Dare American Golf

JOHN WRIGHT was ready to do a Sandy Lyle and throw in the towel on a monsoon-hit medal round when he lost a tee shot - only to find it in the hole for an ace and an albatross!

The Liberton seven-handicapper braved last weekend's deluge to peg it up in the pouring rain but as his tee shot disappeared at the 263-yard par four second, he was looking for a reverse gear on his trolley.

Seconds later, though, he found he had bagged his first hole in one.

The 47-year-oldHGVdriver, right, grinned: "I'd had a bogey on the first, then hit a driver on the second but I lost it in the air. It was nowhere in sight and I just thought, 'that's it, I'm off - it's too wet.' Out of manners I tended the pin for my partner and gave a huge roar when I saw my ball.

"I played on and scored a scratch 65 to win the medal as well!"

John's ace earns him a fantastic custom fitting for a Nicklaus DPT Draw Back driver courtesy of our partners at American Golf.

And he'll also be at the five-star Fairmont St Andrews in October for our grand final. You too could join him if you hit an eagle or better in a club competition.
