Boo Will Be Our Mascot

PAUL AZINGER reckons loveable redneck Boo Weekley could become America's key player in their bid to win back the Ryder Cup.

The US captain believes Weekley's quirky personality and popularity on tour will make him a mascot figure.

And he hopes Boo (left) will unite a home side so often accused of lacking team spirit.

He said: "Boo brings intensity and a sense of humour.

"He could end up becoming a mascot because he's really funny.

"I don't know Boo that well but there are some great stories about him stepping into the boxing ring with an orangutan when he was young - and losing.

"You heard that one? I don't know if it's true but it is a great story.

"He could be a key player on and off the course. Boo's a terrific striker of the ball and his sense of humour and style will resonate throughout the team room."
