Duke's hazard catches Casey

PAUL CASEY made a royal mess of his approach to the 15th yesterday then was stunned to find out he had copied the Duke of York.

Prince Andrew is an R&A member and was in the crowd to see Casey lose his ball in a gorse bush on the right of the green.

And HRH clearly sympathised with the Ryder Cup star by revealing he'd suffered the same fate.

After his round of 73 left him on 12 over Casey said: "The Duke of York told me he'd hit a ball in there the other day. I said 'did you find it sir?' and he replied 'no'. Clearly I'd hit it in the wrong place.

"But I rate the round highly. I hit out of bounds on the first, lost that ball on 15 and threw in a couple of three putts. To shoot one-over with those mistakes was a great round."
