Simon Khan promises he won't choke in Scottish Open run-in

SLICK Simon Khan shot to the top of the Barclays Scottish Open leaderboard and vowed not to choke on the run-in like last year.

The Englishman was in a good position at Loch Lomond 12 months ago only for the occasion to get to him as he chased glory.

Khan went out with Phil Mickelson in the th round but blew a great chance - and looked to have learned from that with a three-under yesterday.

The 36-year-old Londoner now sits at the summit alongside Ulsterman GraemeMcDowell on 10 under.

And after learning from last year he hopes to hold his nerve for one final afternoon that could see him crowned champion. Khan said last night: "I didn't deal with it at all well last year. Playing with Phil I started to chase it but today I was patient.

"I'm just going to go out and try to play and enjoy myself. When I've been in good positions before I've tried too hard and you can push it away."

Victory this afternoon would set Khan up perfectly for The Open at Royal Birkdale this week.
