AMATEUR ace Scott Henry admits he played like a donkey the last time he teed-up in the Scottish Challenge a year ago.
But the 20-year-old from Cardross made sure he didn't make an ass of himself at Macdonald Cardrona near Peebles yesterday as he continued his stunning form among the pros in the £175,000 European Challenge Tour event.
The ex-Scottish Stroke play champ ripped out a best of the day four-under 67 (209) to move into a share of seventh behind frontrunner Jeppe Huldahl of Denmark who hit a 68 for 204.
And the Scotland cap said: "I got invited to this event last year but I played like a donkey and missed the cut.
"This week has been much better. It's a great experience to get the chance to play with some top European players.
"The aim is to turn pro eventually so this is the level I need to be performing at."
Colville Park amateur Ross Kellett also seized his chance to shine on the pro stage and hit a 68 for a three-under 210.
The 20-year-old said: "This is my first pro event and it's a real eye-opener seeing the standard you need to play at."
But it wasn't all good news for the Scots as Tartan Tour star Greig Hutcheon, a shot off the lead at halfway, stumbled to a two-over 73 (209).
At the top of the standings Huldahl has a one-shot lead over Dutchman Tako Remkes (67) heading into today's final round.
