The Bohn supremacy

JASON BOHN conquered a putting crisis to fire a five-under-par 67 and take a two-shot lead in the Wachovia Championship at Quail Hollow in North Carolina yesterday.

The 35-year-old had been struggling on the greens recently but added an inch in length to his putter and made some technical changes to his stroke - with the help of his coach, Mike Shannon.

The hard work paid off as he moved to nine under par in the tournament.

Bohn said: "My poor putting was getting out of hand and I was starting to lose confidence.

However, my strike is much more solid now.

"I've been picking when to fire at flagsticks and I've got some good bounces, so things are going my way."

Anthony Kim shot a 67 to move into second place, one ahead of Jim Furyk, DudleyHart and George McNeill. Masters champion Trevor Immelman missed the cut for the second successive week and Phil Mickelson finished with double bogeys at the 15th and 18th to shoot 74 and fall seven strokes behind Bohn.
