Choi Joy At Late Flurry

A LATE birdie blitz by KJ Choi helped the Korean card a five-under 65 to open a two-shot lead over Kevin Na at the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Choi, who started on the back nine, sank birdies on four of his last five holes - including three straight - to surge to 11-under 129 after the second round.

Na moved within striking distance as he matched his compatriot's feat by also finishing with three straight birdies in his 64.

Steve Marino is three off the lead after a three-under 67.

Fred Funk (64) and Jimmy Walker (68) are joint fourth at seven under but defending champ Paul Goydos missed the cut after a 73.
