Scots To Seal Full-Time Deal

SALTIRES stars are set to be handed full-time contracts for the first time.

The major development will be announced by Cricket Scotland chief Roddy Smith at today's first winter squad session in Edinburgh.

As many as six players will be offered full-time deals with a range of part-time packages also available.

And if Scotland qualify for the 2011 World Cup the number of full-time players could more than double.

Smith last night confirmed the deals should be concluded early next year.

He said: "The players will be first to know the details but full-time contracts will become a reality.

"Our international schedules are so busy it is the only realistic way forward.

"The number of full-time players will almost certainly increase if the guys qualify for the World Cup."
