Ross Lyons in with a shout of World Cup place

SALTIRES star Ross Lyons has played himself into contention for next year's World Cup qualifiers after an impressive top-flight debut Down Under.

The University of New South Wales spinner took three wickets and finished not out with the bat despite his side losing to North Sydney.

Cricket Scotland performance boss Craig Wright said: "Ross is playing at a high standard and will be in the selectors' thoughts for the South African qualifiers."

The Scots must finish in the top four in April's qualifiers for a place at the 2011 World Cup.
