Coaching Our Kids Is Wright Place For Me

SALTIRES ace Craig Wright will miss Scotland's first Friends Provident Trophy match - to help the next generation of Scots stars.

The former national captain will take charge of the Scotland Under-19s in their game at Poloc instead of turning out against Lancashire.

And he has warned new Saltires coach Pete Steindl he'll miss a few matches as he works with the kids.

The veteran paceman's absence is a major blow for Steindl who is looking for the Scots to avoid the wooden spoon this summer.

Wright said: "Putting the U-19s into the Scottish League was my idea so it's only right I'm with them rather than with Scotland.

"I've got to try and balance coaching them and playing. It probably means I'll miss three FP Trophy games and the Inter-Continental Cup ties later on in the summer."

The Greenock skipper will be free for the Glenpark side's opener against Ferguslie on Saturday.

Backing them to do the double again this year he said: "At full strength we're hard to beat."
