MARTIN WATSON gets the chance to join Scotland's lightweight elite when he takes on England's Chris Long on Friday night at Motherwell Concert Hall.

The pair will do battle for the International Masters title and promoter Chris Gilmour would like to set up a competition to find Scotland's top man in the division.

He said: "Our country has a history of producing great lightweights and two, Ken Buchanan and Jim Watt, have gone on to win world titles.

"We could match guys like Gary McArthur, Ryan Brawley, Craig Docherty, Willie Limond, Lee McAlister, Dave Stewart and Stuart Green as well as Martin if he defeats Long."
