Celtic hitman Scott McDonald hits back at weight jibes with strike in Accies rout

SCOTT McDONALD helped Celtic devour Hamilton yesterday - then patted his belly as he scoffed at the critics who claim he's overweight.

The Aussie netted the third in a 4-0 win at Parkhead after boss Gordon Strachan shot down claims that his striker is carrying a few extra pounds. And team-mate Mark Wilson insists McDonald is hungry for more goals.

He said: "Scott has taken a wee bit of stick and we're all pleased for him to score another goal.

"He brings much more to the team than goals. Scott works hard and his hold-up play is great."

The win took Celtic top of the table on goal difference ahead of Rangers' game at St Mirren today.

But Wilson reckons the Hoops have yet to hit top gear.

He said: "We can definitely get better. I don't think everyone has reached their peak and there is much more to come."

Hamilton gaffer Billy Reid sighed: "We didn't do ourselves justice or pass well enough.

"Four or five of my players are absolutely gutted because they know they can play much better."
