LUNCH LUNACY

ANOTHER week, another sad example of taxpayers' money being frittered away.

Bosses of NHS Scotland, the Fire Service and Scottish Executive have been wining and dining at an exclusive lunch club run by a Labour peer at a cost of £16,000 a year - with the bill picked up by YOU.

If ever a story summed up why ordinary folk are fed up with public servants, it has to be this one.

The fire service says the club represents good value as a place for their bosses to make vital contacts.

We don't know what the Executive's explanation is - they all vanished on holiday on Friday.

There is nothing wrong with public service bosses meeting business leaders and politicians.

But they shouldn't be doing it in a private club trading on elitism.

And they shouldn't be doing it at the taxpayers' expense.
