Home Opinion We Say

Home Win

GORDON BROWN was on home ground when he addressed the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland yesterday.

He seemed more relaxed and more purposeful than at any other time in his first 11 months as PM.

His speech about a fairer society was a timely reminder that we have a fundamentally decent and caring leader in Brown.

Comparing his speech to Thatcher's Sermon on the Mound 20 years ago highlights the gulf in compassion between Labour and the Tories.

Brown looked uncomfortable on American Idol last month. He should leave the cheap theatricals to the Tories.

On his home turf he showed that he is still the man to lead Britain.

And the reality is there is NO serious opposition.
