So the whole nation should be behind Rangers' tilt for the UEFA Cup - no matter what club they support.

The Sunday Mail backed Celtic against Porto in 2003, Dundee United against Gothenburg in 1987 and Aberdeen against Real Madrid in 1983.

We now wish now Walter Smith and his boys all the best in Manchester.

And hope they bring the trophy home for the whole of Scotland.
