Mcghee: We can still cut it

MARK McGHEE watched Motherwell plunge pointless towards the bottom of the table then vowed to give them back their cutting edge.

This time last season they had a 100 per cent record at the top of the table. Now after two straight defeats this term the UEFA Cup hopefuls know they must start turning their passing into points in a hurry.

A free-kick sucker punch from Aberdeen's Charlie Mulgrew four minutes from time was rough justice on a Well side who looked worth a 0-0 at least.

But McGhee sighed: "It's not rocket science, things just weren't quite good enough around the edge of the box - the cutting edge was missing.

"And I see things that if we can improve on, we would have won a game like that.

"It's frustrating to have that much possession and territory and not convert it into a win.

"Defensively we were certainly better than against Hearts last week but the bottom line is that to win games you have to score goals.

"And as soon as they got their free kick, I thought 'here we go...'"
