Glory will ease Adam Zenit pain

CHARLIE ADAM insists a treble will numb Rangers' pain - and he's ready to play his part in the healing process.

The 22-year-old's season looked over after a knee injury wrecked his run-in at the end of March.

But Adam has bounced back and is desperate to give Gers the fresh legs they'll need to clear the final three hurdles in their SPL and Scottish Cup steeplechase.

The midfielder, who started yesterday's draw with Motherwell, said: "I'm fully fit and it was fantastic to be in the squad for the UEFA Cup Final, an occasion that doesn't come round too often.

"I'm just 22 and was so proud to be there. But we still have unfinished business this season and I really hope to be involved more.

"There's not long to go and we have three tough games. We could end up with a treble which would be a great achievement and we still have high hopes despite the disappointment in midweek.

"The treble would certainly help take away the hurt."

Gers' 19-game Euro run may have ended in agony but Adam believes they still have a lot to be proud of.

He said: "We beat some class teams on the way - the result we had in Lyon in the Champions League, the games against Bremen and Fiorentina.

"You can see from the start of the season that we've improved as a team and, going back further, since the manager came in.

'Every player can be proud of what we have achieved."

One player on more of a downer than anyone else after Manchester is skipper Barry Ferguson.

Fergie had never hidden his dream of joining John Greig in the pantheon of great Ibrox captains.

But Charlie insists his pal will bounce back. He said: "You have to feel sorry for Barry. To win that UEFA Cup would have been a real achievement for him.

"He would have been so proud - I know that because he has never stopped going on about it.

"It is a disappointment for Barry but he is a strong character and will pick himself up."
