Blame just doesn't add up

TOO many schools are still in a terrible state and our most precious asset - our children - are being taught in buildings put up more than 50 years ago.

Leaking roofs and windows, poor electrics and terrible heating are hellish working conditions for teachers, too.

But we can't blame the Scottish Government.

These schools have been rotten for 20 years and the PFI system has long been loathed and discredited.

We all want things done quickly but 18 months to dismantle a bad system and replace it with another is not too long to wait. I waited 16 weeks for a sofa to be delivered and I'd paid for that upfront, too.

Abba DVD is my Waterloo

WELL Mamma Mia! has really done the business with sales at record levels for the DVD...and yes, I was one of those who bought it. But not for me, for my daughters who love it. I would rather watch paint dry than Meryl Streep and Co warble through Abba's back catalogue but who am I to go against the masses? All I get from the DVD is great songs - not sung all that well - with a pretty rubbish story but if you want a fun singalong escape, then I suppose it's ideal. Read
