MADONNA hit 50 yesterday - same age as me - and while I think I'm wearing no' too bad, I have to admit she looks fantastic.

But EVERYTHING about her life is geared to her image...the eating, the punishing exercise regime, the religion.

Good luck to her but life's too short for no chips and chocolate. I am a huge admirer of her ability to manipulate the media but I wouldn't buy her records.

Yes I'll give it large at a party when her 80s hit Get Into The Groove is on but give me Joni Mitchell or Stevie Wonder anyday. I wonder if any X Factor winner will make it to 50 and still be at the top of their game?

The show returned last night with the auditions - my favourite bit. The deluded are always better viewing than those who can hold a tune.
