FORMER Beirut hostage Terry Waite was in Glasgow last week at a conference on the treatment of people who are wrongly jailed.

Most of us feel sorry for these people while they are locked up but few think about what happens to them when they are finally freed.

They have often lost families, friends and jobs and are rightly bitter.

Governments must heed Waite's campaign to help them readjust to life on the outside.
