I HAVE never believed Kate and Gerry McCann were guilty of anything but leaving their kids alone in their holiday apartment.

I could not entertain the thought they would harm Maddie, above, in any way.

The behaviour of the Daily Express, Daily Star and their Sunday sisters in printing vicious rumours to boost sales was horrible.

I hope having to print an apology on the front pages will change their attitudes.
