THE worst thing in the Tommy Sheridan libel case is that while Tommy won the battle, the News of the World seems to have won their war.

The awful stuff they printed brought about the demise of a political party that is badly needed in Scotland, and THAT is the real tragedy.

They have helped destroy the party led by Colin Fox, wrecked relationships and, even worse, they have taken away the voice that represented the poor and the downtrodden in this country.

Yes, the forces of darkness have succeeded in getting rid of a socialist voice.

Maybe that's what Rupert Murdoch wanted all along.

Abba DVD is my Waterloo

WELL Mamma Mia! has really done the business with sales at record levels for the DVD...and yes, I was one of those who bought it. But not for me, for my daughters who love it. I would rather watch paint dry than Meryl Streep and Co warble through Abba's back catalogue but who am I to go against the masses? All I get from the DVD is great songs - not sung all that well - with a pretty rubbish story but if you want a fun singalong escape, then I suppose it's ideal. Read
