Vigilantes hunt mother of Baby P

VIGILANTES have set up online groups giving the name, address and picture of Baby P's mum and calling for her to be tortured and killed.

A court order imposed by a high court judge banned the identification of the 27-year-old mum and her boyfriend who were last week convicted of causing the 17-month-old's death.

But a Facebook group has posted the mum and her boyfriend's name, address and picture under the heading: "Death is too good for ..., torture the b**** that killed Baby P."

Another group identifying her says: "Baby P killers should be hanged, drawn and quartered".

Last night, the two groups had gathered nearly 12,000 members with messages in support of naming and shaming the couple as the mum's Friends Reunited profile was circulated online.

Site creator Toni Thorn said: "Goodnight ..., this is the least I could do to get justice for you."

The case of Baby P sparked nationwide fury after it was revealed he was violently abused at the hands of his mum, her 32-year-old boyfriend and their friend Jason Owen, 36, for months before he died.

Health and social workers from Haringey Council saw him 60 times but failed to prevent the horrific death. The family smeared him in chocolate to hide his bruises and left him with a broken spine two days before he was found dead in his cot.

They face up to 14 years in jail for causing or allowing his death but were cleared of murder.

Scottish Ministers yesterday insisted they would monitor child protection services.

Secretary for education and lifelong learning Fiona Hyslop said: "Terrible cases like that of Baby P drives home to us all why we must never be complacent.

"In Scotland, we have a very robust child protection inspections system giving detailed feedback, allowing shortcomings to be identified early and action taken quickly."

But she admitted it would not be possible to prevent a repeat of the tragedy.

She added: "Evil people do evil things. Legislation itself will not protect children, it's the adults who do it."
