Newlyweds' fury after internet firm Wrapit goes broke

HUNDREDS of newlyweds have been left without their presents after a gift company went broke.

Internet wedding-list firm Wrapit continued to take orders, even though they could not guarantee previous ones would be honoured.

Couples have had their big day soured by the firm, who are now refusing to take calls from angry customers.

Most won't be covered even if they have wedding insurance - because it is the guests who bought the gifts and are out of pocket.

Now couples face an anxious wait to discover if they will receive any of the presents bought by family and friends.

Wrapit, who have offices in Aberdeen and Glasgow, have posted a message on their website, claiming they hope to resolve the problems by the end of next week. The firm are seeking a re-financing deal that would allow it to continue trading.

But one deal has already failed and HSBC, which is the firm's bank, is holding £1million of Wrapit's available cash.

Wrapit, who handle around 3000 wedding lists a year, began to have financial problems at the start of the year.
