Teenage girl shot in head in Manchester

A 16-YEAR-OLD girl has been shot in the head, police said yesterday.

The youngster, who has not been named, was last night in a critical condition in hospital.

Greater Manchester Police said they found the wounded teenager at a house in Gorton, Manchester, shortly after 6am.

A 19-year-old man was arrested nearby and was in police custody last night as Superintendent Simon Barraclough appealed for witnesses.

He added: "This would appear to be an isolated incident however there will be extra patrols in the area to reassure residents."
