A SCOTS mum of three has been killed in a hit-and-run horror in Dubai during a night out to celebrate her birthday.
Kate Wood, 52, was knocked over by a giant Hummer SUV, which then reversed over her and fled.
She was with her husband Jeff and friends Danielle and Brendan Hunter when the tragedy happened on May 29.
Her killer - a young local man - was arrested the following day and may face the death penalty.
Kate and Jeff - who were married for 33 years - moved to Dubai from Inverness for oil worker Jeff's job two years ago.
Yesterday, he said: "Kate loved to dance and we were heading to this place where there was music.
"The taxi driver pulled up and Brendan, myself and Kate got out and were waiting on the pavement while Danielle was paying the driver.
"I heard Brendan shout something like 'watch out' and the Hummer sent me flying about six feet.
"It went right over Kate. To my disbelief, the driver reversed and went forward over her again. Kate was only a little woman and didn't stand a chance."
Kate suffered head injuries and was dead on arrival at hospital.
A witness told police the Hummer driver had become enraged because the cabbie braked in front of him several times.
Kate is to be buried in Scotland on Tuesday. Jeff will return to Dubai within two weeks for the driver's first court appearance.
