Obama edges closer to being named Democratic nominee for presidency

BARACK OBAMA is a step closer to securing the Democratic nomination for the US presidential race after more "super-delegates" decided to support him.

He picked up endorsements from Utah and Ohio as well as two super-delegates from the Virgin Islands who had previously backed Hillary Clinton.

Clinton supporter Don Fowler admitted: "It is perceived he is the leader."
