SWIMMERS were yesterday warned to avoid a 17-mile stretch of ocean over fears a killer shark was still in the water.
Dave Martin, 66, died after being savaged by a Great White off the coast of Solana Beach, San Diego, California.
He was training with a group of triathletes when the shark attacked about 150 yards offshore at 7am on Friday morning.
Two others heard his screams and dragged him back to the beach but he could not be saved.
Rob Hill, a member of Dave's triathlon club, was running on the beach at the time.
He said: "The swimmers saw him come up out of the water, scream 'shark', flail his arms and go back under."
