AN ITALIAN court was yesterday told there was not enough evidence to rule if slain British student Meredith Kercher had been sexually assaulted or strangled.
Court-appointed expert Giancarlo Umani Ronchi told a hearing in Perugia he was "cautious" over how she died.
Meredith, 21, was found dead in a pool of blood in her bedroom in November with a neck wound.
Three suspects have been held in jail since then, though not charged.
One of them, Raffaele Sollecito, 24, attended yesterday's hearing.
His former girlfriend, American Amanda Knox, 20, of Seattle, and third suspect Ivory Coast national Rudy Hermann Guede, 21, stayed in jail.
All three have denied any wrongdoing.
