Burkha Thief 'Struck Twice', Believe Cops

A MAN dressed in a burkha and pushing a pram who raided a jewellers may have struck twice, police said yesterday.

The armed robber pretended to be a mother browsing in the traditional Muslim dress.

Then four other men armed with hammers smashed displays and sprayed four shop workers with a substance before getting away with a haul of jewellery.

Cops think the man who hit the shop in Cape Hill, near Birmingham, had targeted a Securicor van in the city's Heath Road, a few days earlier.

He carried a firearm in the failed security van raid.
