Villagers Protest Over Eco-Town Plans

VILLAGERS yesterday protested against a proposed eco-town they say would ruin their community.

About 500 protesters attended the rally in Stoughton, Leicestershire.

The area around the village is among 50 sites earmarked as possible locations for one of the Government's new eco-towns.

The Co-op own about 4500 acres of farmland around the village on which 15,000 new homes are planned.
